#1 Silver Spoons

I've always heard the expression "born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth." I've been reminded of this saying from the first thing of what I've learned.

#1: A Tiffany's silver spoon gets hot enough to hurt when left in tea.

I'll stick with the el cheapo spoons from now on. Thanks.

To Learn Something New Everyday

I've decided that a my life's goal is to learn something new everyday. It doesn't have to be big, just "something." I think that my blog will be a good place to share these experiences and my Life Education. Sometimes they'll be serious, sometimes funny. I'll try to share quite often exactly what I learned each day. Feel free to leave comments on what you're learning!

Way Disciple Handbook... the sequel

One day while we were at the local library (a common place for us to be) Patricia happened upon the sequel to the Way Disciple Handbook. It is in video form. I present to you: Follow Up.

Listening to that Still Small Voice

One thing that Way Disciples have the opportunity to do is to learn to listen to God. I've definitely seen that here in Colorado Springs. One morning way back in October Barbara and I went out Door-to-door in the morning. We were out around 10am. It was a chilly morning (at the time I incorrectly thought it was cold) and no-one was home. Our choice was to keep going or do something else. We had climbed into my car to warm up ( I honestly thought it was cold, but I've since learned the true meaning of cold). As we drove around looking at the rest of the street, I just didn't feel right about finishing it. I felt like we should go to the coffee shop. (We chose door-to-door earlier because usually there wasn't many people at the coffee shop). Finally I saw a dog walking around with out a person. I definitely didn't want to get out of the car with the dog there. At the worst, it could bite us, but at the very best, it would follow us. You can't witness when you have a neighborhood dog following you! So off to the coffee shop we went! Both Barbara and I were very excited because it was crowded!! That feeling I had was definitely God working in me to put us in the right spot at the right time! I was additionally excited because it was that day that I met these wonderful ladies at the Knitting Group. (We all call it different things because it's called Stitch and B*tch.) After several weeks, the ladies, all excellent people to talk to, had all asked about what we were here doing but none of them have been interested in fellowship. They have visited me at Chili's several times and are great friends. However, that isn't the reason we went there that day. God had something else in mind! ;) Yesterday at our phone-hookup a lady that Barbara had witnessed to that first day came for the first time. She is also interested in the Foundational Class. How great is it that even 4 months after we sowed the seed, God is bringing the increase. We have to trust and believe God to be in the right place at the right time. When our 5 senses try to trick us out of believing His promises, only we are the losers. God is so much greater than 5 senses. He inhabits eternity! He knew then what we know now. How great is He? He knows now what we will know in the future. We have that ability to listen to that small still voice so that we can be in that right place at the right time. God knows the hearts of everyone, and we will without a doubt find all those who are hungering and thirsting to know more about His word! God is good. Way Disciple is awesome. I know more now than yesterday, and even more so than when I came.

We're like the USPS... nothing can stop us!

One night, it was about 4 degrees out. (Yes, for all you southerners, that is well below freezing!) We all went out Door-to-door witnessing. This turned into one of the most memorable nights here in Colorado Springs. The apartment complex that we went to was indoors, meaning you entered the building and the doors to the apartments were along a hallway. That is what we thought at the beginning. It turns out that two of the buildings Bill and I were to knock on were outside!! It wasn't freezing out, it was very much below. Bill and I were not going to be stopped. Thinking that all the buildings were inside, we started with the indoor one. This building was incredible. We got every response you could imagine. Half way through, I commented to Bill that if I were to make a movie about Way Disciple, I would include a door-to-door montage. That montage would consist of every door we had just knocked on. I even started singing the soundtrack. lol. It sounded something like carnival music... or a carousel. It is really hard to accurately depict the strangeness. One lady wouldn't open her door because she wasn't wearing any clothes, another lady asked Bill and I if we were "partners" (we explained that we were sent here together on a team, but we were not romantically involved). lol To this day, I don't know what she was getting at. It was strange. The thing about indoor apartment complexes, is that the doors are really thin. We could here the tvs and the babies crying. Such a strange night. Our efforts, however, were not returned void. We got a contact in one of the outside buildings! Also, we got to pray for another lady in one of those outside buildings. What I learned: You have to believe to get the best out of each situation. Believe that God is working in your leadership to put you in the right place at the right time! Even if the senses tell you it isn't right (I'd say that 4 degrees, not windchill, but actual temperature, wouldn't seem right.) To be in the right place at the right time to minister God's word to people is awesome. It was a strange, but very rewarding night!!

A day at the Movies!

My parents branch back home gave my Way Disciple team a gift of a day at the movies for the holidays! We went at the beginning of January to see National Treasure 2. It was so much fun to get candy and go out and enjoy ourselves together. We had a great time. Patricia's sister came down from Denver with her son to see the movie with us. It sure was great. The two sisters haven't been to the movies together since Star Wars (the original one) was playing in the theaters. I took a few pictures, but not a lot. The flash was blinding everyone in the dark. Don't worry, only the previews were playing. We all know that you don't need silence when a hot dog is singing!

Changing it up!

A few weeks ago, Rev. Wallace shared with us about switching up our routines. He shared that if we wanted to continue to reap the same results, then we should keep doing what we're doing. In contrast, if we want to do and see more, we have to switch it up. One thing I've been working on is believing to be at the right place at the right time. In doing that, my action has been to believe to have the right word of God at that moment. Monday night we went witnessing door-to-door and I got to see results like I haven't witnessed before! I should start the story by letting you know how I was sharing with Barbara earlier in the day how many people haven't heard the "basics" to the point they believe them whole-heartedly. I shared with her that not everyone's heard John 10:10 to the point of believing it. Later that night, I knocked on the door and said an intro I had never said before. I told the woman who answered the door that we were there to find people who were searching God's Word for answers. I had inquired if she was one of them. She told me which church she was going to and that, yes she was searching! I even got to share with her about John 10:10. She was having a hard time believing God wanted her to live her life the way it was going. (She was having job troubles.) I got to share that God wants the very best for us, and we get to claim that everyday! She was really blessed and I'm expecting her at fellowship tonight! What a witness. God is good! We are here finding the people who are trying to find Him. How great it is that we can share such a sweet message! God so LOVED us that He gave His only begotten son. We too can live life with that love of God in our hearts. To love someone as God loves, isn't easy, but the rewards are amazing!
Love you guys,
Tori

More updates soon! Our schedules are jam packed with blessings!

Wow, I can't believe the end of January has come!

It has been a long time since I've posted any updates. I'll try to retro-post what has been happening these past 2 months. Way Disciple is really busy, especially now during the harvest time. Patricia recently shared with us how schools in Idaho would close for 2 weeks during the potato harvest because much work needed to be done in a very short amount of time. We are in that harvest time here in Colorado Springs. We've are planning our next Class Explanation and it is going to be amazing! Our spheres of influence have definitely increased since the last time! I'm excited.

Definitely more to come, I'm off to go witnessing before work. Love you guys!
